An article from The Guardian that I found quite interesting, Ten Rules for Writing Fiction, it's The Guardian's 'survey of established authors' tips for successful authorship'. I know I'm guilty of using 'then' far too often, I have to break myself of that habit.

And for interest's sake, Michael Moorcock talks about The Lester Dent Pulp Paper Master Fiction Plot, which also makes for an interesting read.

;_;

Prologues.

Can I claim immunity and that it's a necessary genre trope, and just keep going, can I, can I??

IKR? I did the same thing hahaha. However, I concur it's a genre trope because it's only in my fantasy trilogy wip and my sci-fi-fantasy that I use them. So, yes. Yes, I second this motion.

Facebook group for 'Reclaiming the power of the Prologue'??

Still, I am viewing it more warily, and having to justify its existence, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Ahahahaha that would be awesome, actually. I'd join it!

Yes, that's true. I don't think I've used a prologue for a while now, which is unusual, I used to use them almost as fanatically as 'then'.

Have a look at the latest video incanation of Day of the Triffids . It's 90% prologue and 10% roadkill stew.

Utterly vile and reprehensible.
